Organic Quality Management
Organic Quality Management (OQM) measures the health and quality of Christian organizations such as schools, relief and mission organizations, camps, and businesses based on the philosophy, resources and processes of Natural Church Development (NCD). The procedure begins with a questionnaire developed according to scientific criteria designed to evaluate areas of leadership, team-work and their relationships, organizational structures, personal spirituality, values and company culture, and authenticity.
The findings are intended to improve the work environment for employees and give greater authenticity to the mission and vision of the organization.
Organic Quality Management desires to encourage healthy growth within organizational structures that work for everyone and follow God’s guidance and direction for the organization.
Organic Quality Management consists of three basic elements of equal importance:
- Organic – striving for comprehensive, holistic solutions to problems i.e. an archaic structure or organization that restricts the new life trying to unfold or develop
- Quality – ensuring long-term survival of an organization at a high level of excellence, that good quality will produce good quantity
- Management – the need for every organization to have good leadership, direction and development
If an organization succeeds in applying these principles on a 12 to 18 month cycle they will improve their ability to refine their vision, goals and strategies, to set and implement their plan of action, to focus their resources appropriately to reduce burn-out and busy-work and will become a healthy, fruitful company where everyone understands and strives for the essential values of the organization.
Organic Quality Management can be summed up as holistic management on the foundation of spiritual values, where life and people are center-stage and account is taken of the whole ‘system’ with all its interconnections.
